Evaluation Part One - Brief

Brief Number One - MUSIC PROMOTION

Task
Our task was to create:

- One MUSIC VIDEO package
- A 6 or 8 gate cover for the artists DIGIPAK
- An A4 MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT promoting the digipak

For a song by an unsigned artist.

The initial artist that I chose was a hip hop/rap band called "Mashtown" and their song "Studio Gangstas", I found them on unsigned artist. I also came up with an idea for this song, which I pitched to my class. I sent an email requesting permission, but never got a reply.

Hip hop music is a musical genre that developed as part of hip hop culture, and is defined by four key stylistic elements: rapping, DJ'ing/scratching, sampling (or synthesis), and beatboxing. Rapping, also referred to as MC'ing or emceeing, is a vocal style in which the artist speaks lyrically, in rhyme and verse, generally to an instrumental or synthesized beat. I chose this song, because it had a catchy beat and a nice tempo, it sounded great. The only flaw was my idea.

When me and my partner Aran Knowles were deciding on which idea to take through, we decided to go with his. We made this decision because he had already got permission for his song and I generally preferred his idea over mine, because it was more thought out then mine and it just sounded better.

So here's his initial idea and the confirmation of permission:

Aran's initial idea was for a different song, but since he did not get a reply for that. He went for Dissociation by Carl Hauck, which was actually a better song.
